Research Profile

🧬Profile

I'm SeonMin Kim — a health-focused data scientist with a regulatory background. After several years leading FDA/MFDS-related regulatory work in the pharmaceutical industry, I pivoted into data science to support healthcare teams with stronger evidence generation and data-driven decision-making.

🔬Research Overview

I'm pursuing my M.S. in Health Data Science at UCSF (expected May 2026), with a background in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Regulatory Affairs. My work connects patient-level clinical data with biomedical signals—particularly single-cell modalities like CyTOF and scRNA-seq.

At UCSF, I work with clinical and operational datasets paired with high-dimensional biomedical data. For my capstone, I’m analyzing CyTOF data from kidney transplant patients to identify immune cell signatures that differentiate acute rejection from stable graft function. I examine longitudinal changes across multiple post-transplant timepoints and apply statistical methods to identify patterns associated with rejection outcomes. I work closely with the transplant clinical team to ensure the findings are clinically meaningful.

I also spend time on scleroderma-related lung disease, integrating single-cell RNA sequencing with patient data. Here, I'm mapping out cell-to-cell communication networks in lung tissue to understand how immune dysregulation drives disease progression. The work is similar—finding patterns in messy biological data and collaborating with clinicians to figure out what actually matters for patient care.
